Get Involved

Help us sort, organize and shelve books donated to the Book Bank! Individuals or groups of volunteers are always needed to assist in the preparation of books to be placed on shelves for selection.​ This process includes labeling, sorting, and categorizing books appropriately. Volunteers assist in packing boxes of books for distribution in the community. Student, collegiate, and professionals are all welcome following communication with program staff.  Please note that all Volunteers at MLK High School must have the updated clearances necessary to work with children (Child Abuse, Criminal Background Check). 

Please note: Certain volunteer shifts may include lifting or shifting boxes weighing up to ~35 pounds. 

Help us raise a city of readers! Many books at the Philly Book Bank are donated from libraries, schools and individuals like you. Educators from across the city come to the Book Bank to get books for their classroom libraries and send home with their students. ​We distribute over 30,000 books annually. Please help us make sure we have enough books to fill the need!​ You can plan a Book Drive during a family event, through your work or in your community. ​Want to donate immediately? Send us books through Amazon!
