Our Sidewalk Libraries create community spaces for children to fall in love with reading and have access to diverse books. These libraries are kept stocked by the Philly Book Bank and community members. Feel free to grab a book if you walk by one! Applications for Sidewalk Libraries will be available soon.
The Philly Book Bank is a resource for educators, organizations and community members serving our city’s children through daycare, preschool, public, private, charter, parochial, religious, and after-school classrooms.
Literacy starts at the beginning. We are partnering with several programs to provide curated books for pregnant or parenting teenagers in the Philadelphia School District. Reading to infants fosters bonding, language skills, and cognitive development.
We support community organizations throughout the city to create literacy-rich spaces, programs and events. Are you in need of books for your event, school, organization, or community? Please reach out!
We provide a bookshelf and diverse books to each of the five community hubs of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.
The Philly Book Bank partners with Literacy and More, another local nonprofit organization, to place a Recharge PlaySpace in Philadelphia Police Department Districts, providing books and a child-friendly space to support any child visiting there, for whatever reason. Welcome to Recharge Playspace!
The Book Bank works with the Special Education Department at MLK High School (School District of Philadelphia) to provide vocational skills training to prepare students for life beyond the school setting.
